Dear Mrs. Niland,

I write in response to your letter dated 6 November 1998, received by post on 11 November.

Thank you for taking the time to write to me after this lengthy period (53 days) of possible confusion. I understand the response you have provided is also on behalf of Mrs Lo Po’.

1. Correspondence between Ms. Rockley and Mr. Todd

With reference to correspondence between Ms. Rockley (Campbelltown CSC) and myself. You should be aware that the material has related to gaining an understanding of the Departments operations, policies and procedures and not to matters relating to my family. There is one exception. A recent reminder to Ms Rockley that she has failed in her promise of 22 September to provide me with a copy of the Huckstepp report. Is it usual for your Department to make undertakings and then renege?

2. Correspondence between Ms. Rockley and Ms. Voncina.

At this time, the Department has not provided me with a copy of letters to Ms. M. Voncina. A requested made to Ms. Rockley to send to me directly a copy of said correspondence was rejected and refused. Does the letter to Ms. Voncina contain information that is in fact questionable? Does the letter contain information that might harm the integrity of the Department?

3. Understanding Misunderstandings.

For the benefit of ensuring there are no misunderstandings between yourself and myself, can you please detail what you know the misunderstanding to be. I feel this is critical to the rehabilitation process necessary to ensure my wife, child and self come to a clear understanding of what happened to traumatise our lives and attempt to destroy our livelihoods.

4. Referrals to support services.

I’d also like to know what support services you indicate we have been referred to. Ms Rockley, nor the District Officers have provided me with any referrals. I would like to point out that our family needed (nor needs) support services prior to Department Intervention on 21 September 1998. The Department must concur with this.
