AJ Todd - 14 Oct 98 11:04 AM
Monday 14 October 1998. 11:04 AM

Inspector Hamlet called. (Amazing how the Police can be so prompt - yet I still await contact from DoCS now standing 8 days...)

We were to arrange a meeting for today, but we have another appointment (medical) and it was best to move the meeting to tomorrow.

Inspector Hamlet said he has a meeting in the morning till 10 AM - which is fine, we don't really start moving around here till 11 AM anyway.  He also had a Management meeting from 11 AM till an unsure time, but would call me when he was on his way back to see if it was suitable.

Such good communication and negotiation skills.  Why wasn't a Senior Constable Bent trained with the same etiquette?  Or do you only get this training when you become an Inspector?

You see I asked the two Inspectors about their training - 20+ years ago. They said things of course have changed and we tangent discussion about Road Rage which was once a City thing now creeping onto country roads.

They explained that Sen. Const. Bent would not have been trained in such communication and defusing techniques either.

Now please - explain how an officer of Inspector status has "skills" and a Field officer who has to actually work with hostile situations has none?

Just one of my many issues to be raised at our next meeting.

It's not easy getting past me and reaching closure when things don't add up.
