AJ Todd - 30 Sept 98 11:33 PM
30 September 1998   11:33 AM

A fax just arrived.  Thanks D-Man!   (From Today Tonight!)  It's addressed to "The Toddster"  I tell you the Channel Seven and Today Tonight people are so fantastic.  They still haven't offered to pay us for our story!

The following is a Press release that Channel Seven received at 5:05 PM on Tuesday 22 September 1998.  Minutes before Channel Ten New aired the news Story at 5:17 PM.   I guess sometimes it helps to check your facts.  The Media sure have!

You can see the Press Release in scanned version, but I though it wasn't clear enough to read so I've transcribed it below.  You should see the picture - just in case you think I'm making this up.

BTW I called the Police Media unit and they refused to send a copy to me.  Pretty sad huh?

When you Read it go back to the Begging Page of the story and make your own judgement.

STATEMENT RE "SUBURB" CHILD AT RISK

22 SEPTEMBER 1998

About 5:45pm Monday 21 September police were called to Suburb to assist two officers from Campbelltown Department of Community Service to gain access to a house to check on the welfare of a five month old baby boy.

Department of Community Services (DOCS) had received information that the child was at risk and had previously been refused entry to the premises or to sight the child.

Police attended with DOCS workers and were again refused entry.   Police showed the male occupant a Removal Order under Section 60 of the Children (Care and Protection) Act but again refused entry, causing them to jemmy open the door using police batons.

A struggle ensued between the male occupant and police before DOCS were able to obtain access to the baby.

Section 60 provides police with the power to gain entry to any premises where a child is believed to be at risk.
