AJ Todd - 29 Sept 98 Summary of the Days Events (PM)
Tuesday 29 September 1998   - Summary The Days Events (PM)

We just arrived home after a very long day.  Let me summaries the day for you and then you can read each section as it is presented.  I'll get the Radio Broadcasts transcribed as soon as I can. (I'll have to ask my father for that one!)

This morning at 7:20 2GB called me and said they had to reschedule for 7:40 was that OK.  Golly, I had no problem with that.

7:40 AM came and they called.  We talked and I waffled :)  We finished with a well wished ending.

7:50ish came and Graham Richardson had Carmel Niland on the line.  Oh and did she do it tough.  Not only does she totally contradict the Video Tape STILL, she hasn't caught on that there might be a LOT more tape she hasn't seen yet.  I really feel sorry for manages who just read staff reports and don't get the other side.

As I've said before:  "There are two sides to EVERY story - except when there is video tape."  I think that's now a pretty famous  quote.

I called 2GB and they wanted me on.  I faxed them a copy of the Paediatricians report.  I was on the air again after the news.  We'll get you transcripts as soon as possible.  I put forward a few points of clarification and a few other people called after me.

I think some people have very small minds and don't think much above their closed safe environments.  We  did to.  We didn't know things like this happened.   Today I heard of at least three other cases.  One that started the Wednesday before our incident and before the Mother could actually get any serious legal advice on the Monday (same day we had out event) she got her child back - no explanation.

Anyway, I had a few Journalists call me.  Marina spoke to me.  Shame form CARE FOR US called me, then we left for Parliament House.

  • The Police didn't show.
  • The Hon Faye Lo Po A.M. Minister for Community Services and Minister for Women didn't show.

But Particia Forsyth - the Shadow Minister for Community Services came and spoke to Suzanne and played with AJ.  She couldn't see what all the fuss was over.

Nor could about 20 people who passed by in the street and recognised us.

Channel Seven were there - they aren't going to miss a beat of this story!  And certainly the support that has been coming in via mail and phone after the broadcast has been overwhelming.  I've even got email from E-friends I haven't heard from in years. (Goassmaer and Tonya.)

We left there and went to Herforts Pharmacy again.  AJ weighed in at 5.44 kg.  My only problem with that reading was his very loaded Nappy.  (AJ was asleep on my lap, he has just woken up for a Boob Feast!)   We ran into people who saw the story on TV and recognised us.  They were quite surprised actually.  In fact most didn't quite know what to do.  They just stood and looked at AJ.

The Fish And Chip Shop (best in Avalon, let them know I told you!) across the road from Herforts also told us they saw the story.  They couldn't believe their eyes.  We ordered two pieces of Grilled Barramundi from the window.  We needed the treat!   $16.00 It was well worth it.  BTW the chips are fantastic.

Oh BTW although AJ is now eating a Banana and a half a day (we are introducing one food at a time to assure there are no reactions) he hasn't changed his Boob Feasting Demands.   In fact Suzi has his Breast Feeding demand times down to a fairly fine art in most cases and even if he demolishes a Banana he still goes for his Boob.  So that theory that Solids will decrease the frequency is in our case of no value.

We went to my parents place and had dinner and watched a few videos of the last few days.  Also caught todays edition of Today Tonight with - guess who on the screen - yet again.

Whilst eating my dinner AJ was on my lap and got a little huffy.  I decided to let him suckle on a peice of Pineapple.  BIG MISTAKE.  When I removed that delight he burst into tears.  OK, how about sucking on some tomatoe.  Oh boy he liked that too.  Now I had a problem.

I was also told today that if I seriously want action from the Police, the video allows me plenty of grounds to lay charges.  I guess with the huge public support that has come in, especially the fact that so many have recommended that we do in fact go forward - we are consider our options.  Watch this site for details.  Comes back to that "Two sides - except when there is a non corruptible third party" story again.

Oh and Dad got a phone call from Lo Po's office.  She is suppose to call him in the later AM tomorrow.  Hmm. I wonder if I'm going to get my meeting to show her ALL the video tape.

We drove home very tired.  Actually Suzi drove for the first time since the incident.  It was very refreshing for me to have a little break.

Anyway, I'd like to thank all of the people who have e-mailed and phoned. It's been terrific and very uplifting.

After talking with several mothers at Parliament House today - there is no way I can stand down and let this go away.  It appears this is happening on a daily basis now and that's NOT acceptable.

We will have the 1800 Parent Support line operational very soon.
